The History of Lazar Winery

The Lazar Winery was founded in 2001 by Lazar Ristov. The Ristov family has been engaged in viticulture for four generations, but they sold their grapes to other wineries for a long time. Lazar, who was introduced to the art of winemaking by his grandfather and father as a child, decided after his studies to establish his own winery.

Initially, Lazar produced on a small scale in his parents' house, where he sold the wines directly to local restaurants. The increasing demand and recognition of his quality eventually led to expansion. Today, the winery has a modern production facility with a capacity of over 120,000 liters of wine per year.

The soil in Tikves consists of sandy clay, loam, and a moderate amount of humus. This composition offers ideal conditions for viticulture. The gentle hills and elevations between 150 and 600 meters ensure excellent ventilation of the vineyards.
