We are on the Salento peninsula, also known as the "boot heel of Italy". The southern part of Appulia is surrounded by 250 km of Mediterranean coast. Right in the heart of the DOC Manduria, is the still young Surani winery. Today, Masseria Surani is managed by the Pasqua family. In the 1920s, the four Pasqua brothers left Puglia behind and built a winery in Verona. 80 years later, the next Pasqua generation bought 80 hectares of land in the DOC Manduria, thus closing the circle of origin and winemaking tradition of the family.

The current cultivated area is 55 hectares, with 25 hectares tilled. The vines are "raised" according to the Guyot system with a planting density of 5,500 vines/ha. The vineyards are planted to fit perfectly into their landscape. The soil of the region in Puglia is mostly limestone, with clay and marl components. It is very fertile and permeable and reddish due to its iron content.
Grape variety list of Masseria Surani
- Primitivo 30 ha
- Negroamaro 5 ha
- Fiano 10 ha
- Cabernet Sauvignon 5 ha
- Chardonnay 5 ha
In addition to the vineyards, the Surani estate also includes a mansion called "Masseria" dating back to the early 1900s, a typical complex of agricultural buildings that originally served as an organizational center for all the farms. After restoration, the Masseria now houses a 700 square meter winery with wooden barrel storage and cellar.
The Tommasi Viticoltori winery took over the Masseria Surani in 2013. Tommasi currently owns wineries in Lombardy, Veneto and Tuscany. With its infrastructure and networking in the wine world, Masseria Surani has a strong partner at its side.
