Raimat - Top Catalan Wines from Costers del Segre

Through the Bodega Raïmat blow over 100 years of winemaking passion that began with a pioneer. His name was Manuel Raventós. He succeeded in doing what others would not even dare to do because of the hopelessness, transforming an arid stretch of land in the Catalan hinterland into a sea of vines.

In just a few years, Raventós planted extensive vineyards and founded the Raimat winery. This was made possible mainly by an ingenious hydraulic irrigation system that could channel water to each vineyard. In the 1960s, another important decision was made at Raimat Winery by planting international classics in addition to local grape varieties.

But even more important than international stars like Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon was the sustainability with which Raimat's vineyards in Costers del Segre DO are managed. In the interest of a healthy and living soil, attention is paid to minimal intervention in the environment. This includes not using chemical fertilizers and pesticides. 

As a pioneer in sustainable viticulture, Bodega Raimat has long held CICC (Catalan Integrated Production Authority) certification.

The naturalness of the Raimat vineyards finds its counterpart in the wines, where it contributes its part to the intensity and fruitiness. Another reason for the ingenuity of the wines is the great difference between day and night temperatures, which makes the grapes ripen more slowly and much more aromatic.

The coat of arms of Bodega Raimat shows a hand and a grape and comes from a mysterious stone found in the vineyards. This stone became the eponym of the winery, because in the Catalan language grape means "Raïm" and hand "Mà". This is how the name "Raïmat" was born.
