Renzo Masi is a family business, which the father Renzo has promoted in his calm and prudent way. His son Paolo graduated from the school of viticulture and has been working in his parents' business with a lot of enthusiasm and expertise ever since. Renzo Masi has vineyards in the Cru area of Basciano, west of Rufina. The valleys here are narrower than in the Classico area, the slopes steeper. The cultivation is laborious, but the result pays off.

The small town of Rufina in the Sieve Valley has given its name to the Chianti that grows on the surrounding hills: Chianti Rufina. This smallest of the Chianti areas, together with the Chianti Classico, has the best soils, the best microclimate, the best growing conditions. The Chianti from the Rufina area is a complex, intense Chianti that has proven to be particularly long-lasting.
