When winemaking families join forces
The Rupert family
Anton Rupert – the namesake of these wines – was not only the founder of a global business empire, but also an active advocate for nature conservation. Today the Rupert family vinifies world-class wines with great passion in the picturesque Franschhoek Valley and owns three other wine estates:
- La Motte Wine Estate
- L’Ormarins Wine Estate
- Anthonij Rupert Wyne

The Rothschild family
In this family it was Baron Edmond de Rothschild who took up the vision of his great-grandfather James de Rothschild and further expanded the wine portfolio. Today the Rothschild family is known for top-quality wines and owns vineyards in the following countries:
- France
- Spain
- Argentina
- New Zealand
- South Africa

The wines of the partnership
In 1997, Anton Rupert from South Africa and Baron Edmond de Rothschild from France jointly founded Rupert & Rothschild Vignerons. The brand stands for three unmistakable wines.
The single-varietal white wine – Baroness Nadine – named after the wife of Baron Edmond de Rothschild. The flagship Bordeaux blend – named after the late Baron Edmond de Rothschild – and the classic red wine cuvée – one of the best-selling and most sought-after South African red wines in its category.
