More information about Baroness Nadine - Rupert & Rothschild
The Baroness Nadine Chardonnay from Rupert & Rothschild is a soft, varietally pure and balanced white wine from the South African wine-growing region of Western Cape.
In the glass, this wine shimmers a sparkling straw yellow with light golden highlights. The nose is taken by a multilayered bouquet. Expressive aromas of peach blossoms, lemon, gooseberry and mango are revealed - underpinned by subtle nuances of delicate nougat and lightly toasted macadamia nuts. On the palate, this South African white wine presents a wonderfully fresh acidity that harmonizes perfectly with the soft texture and very good structure. The pleasantly long finish is accompanied by hints of exotic fruits.
Vinification of the Rupert & Rothschild Baroness Nadine
This hand harvest of Chardonnay grapes begins in mid-February and ends in early March. Once the berries arrive at the winery of Rupert & Rothschild, the grapes are cluster pressed and only the forward juice is used. During this process, 15% is fermented in concrete tanks - 85% in stainless steel tanks and French oak barrels.
Finally, this wine is aged for 10 months in French oak barrels (300 liters). Of these, one third are new wood.
