More information about The Olive Grove Chardonnay - d'Arenberg

The Olive Grove Chardonnay from d'Arenberg, from the Australian wine-growing region McLaren Vale in Adelaide, is a generous, single-varietal and refined white wine.

In the glass, this wine shines in a brilliant greenish-yellow color interwoven with golden highlights. Its aromatic, crisp nose delights with aromas of white flowers, tropical fruit, Granny Smith apples and white nectarines. On the palate, this Californian white wine presents a full-bodied texture and charming aromas of white peach and lime with a hint of brioche. A piquant acidity builds on the palate and leads into a long finish with a touch of cashew nut and fine, textured tannins.

Vinification of the Chardonnay d'Arenberg The Olive Grove

As soon as the harvested fruit arrives at d'Arenberg’s winery, the grapes are gently crushed in small batches, cooled and pressed in a basket press. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks. Additional complexity is provided by 7 months of maturation in French oak barrels.

Food recommendation for The Olive Grove Chardonnay from d'Arenberg

Serve this dry white wine from Australia with salads with a light dressing, risotto with various cheeses, pasta al forno, shrimp satay, and poultry dishes such as coq au vin.

The name The Olive Grove

The name of the wine goes back to the olive trees growing in the Mediterranean climate of McLaren Vale, which have thrived in this region since European settlement in the 1840s. Over time, however, they multiplied so strongly that they became a threat to the native flora. Along the roads and in the vineyards of the estate, many olive trees can be seen. For example, they grow within the Chardonnay parcel in the rows and block the pickers’ path. But all the annoyance is forgotten as soon as the new harvest of olive oil has been pressed and is served with a meal and a good glass of Chardonnay.
