Held at a slight angle, a transition of the wine color towards garnet red is noticeable at the edges. When swirling the glass, one can perceive a first-class balance in this red wine, as it does not stand out on the glass walls watery or syrupy or liqueur-like. The aroma of this red wine from Burgundy is determined by notes of all sorts of red and black berries and dark fruits such as sour cherries and plums. On the palate, Louis Jadot's Santenay Clos de Malte starts off pleasantly aromatic, fruit-driven and balanced. Some wines are dry on the label, others really are. This red wine belongs to the second group, as it was bottled with just 1.4 grams of residual sugar. The fruit acidity of the Santenay Clos de Malte is remarkably restrained, making this wine wonderfully smooth. The final of this red wine from the Burgundy wine-growing region, which has good aging potential, finally convinces with a beautiful reverberation. After the harvest, the grapes reach the winery by the fastest route. Here they are selected and carefully ground. Fermentation follows in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by aging on the fine lees for several months before the wine is finally bottled.
