Lieser Castle Winery: Many faces - one remained
The Schloss Lieser w inery was built in 1904 and is located right next to the castle built of gray slate (built between 1885 and 1895). The Schloss Lieser winery has a long history behind it. It was sold in 1970 and was unable to maintain its qualitative standard due to several changes of ownership.
in 1992, Thomas Haag came to the Schloss Lieser winery as its operations manager. He reorganized it and finally bought it in 1997 - and he stayed, until today.
Weingut Schloss Lieser is a member of the VDP (Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates).

The winemaker Thomas Haag
True to his motto "as little as possible, as much as necessary", Thomas Haag farms his vineyards close to nature. In doing so, he wants to live up to his responsibility towards the environment. His greatest ambition is to vinify only top quality wines year after year.

The next generations
The history of the Schloss Lieser winery will not end with Thomas Haag. For his daughter Lara has already successfully completed her studies at Geisenheim. And son Niklas has also taken up viticulture studies after his apprenticeship as a winemaker.
Thomas Haag has managed to pass on his love and passion for wine to the next generation.

The vineyards on the Mosel
With 8.5 hectares of vineyards, the Schloss Lieser winery cultivates exceptional single vineyard sites, such as:
- Brauneberger Juffer and Juffer Sonnenuhr
- Graacher Himmelreich
- Wehlen Sundial
- Niederberg Heroes
- Schlossberg
All sites are exclusively planted with Riesling. In addition, consistent quantity reduction and selective hand harvesting are applied.
