Vinification of the Schloss Lieser Goldstück Riesling
The basis for the balanced Goldstück Riesling from Germany are grapes from the Riesling grape variety. In Mosel, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of slate. What is unusual about the creation of this top wine from Schloss Lieser is the fact that the grapes in Lieser (DE) grow on stone terraces. This traditional way of vineyard design is unfortunately very cost and time intensive and therefore rarely found anymore. Of course, Goldstück Riesling is also defined by more than just the Lieser soil. This German wine can literally be described as an Old World wine that is exceptionally impressive. After the grape harvest, the grapes reach the press house by the fastest route. Here they are sorted and carefully broken up. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. Vinification is followed by aging on the fine lees for several months before the wine is finally bottled.
