Sites steeped in history
Of all the wineries in the Bolgheri DOC, Tenuta Argentiera, located in the far south and surrounded by a varied natural environment, is the closest to the sea. In Etruscan times, there were natural springs and silver mines on the plateau of the estate - hence the name Argentiera (Ital. Argento/Silver). Once owned by the influential Florentine noble family Serristorti and part of the ancient estate of Donoratico, the winery, located between Livorno and Grosseto, is now a fixed reference for the Tuscan growing zone.

Young and already among the TOP addresses
With its extraordinarily elegant and supple wines, the still very young winery has gained a reputation as one of the most distinguished addresses in the Bolgheri area within just a few years. The fact that the first bottling at Tenuta Argentiera was already a great success is due to Piero Antinori, who, as a famous partner, brought his entire wealth of experience to the new project and is partly responsible for the quality of the wines, which improves from year to year. The almost ideally oriented 80 hectares of vineyards owned by the estate owners - the brothers and well-known Florentine entrepreneurs Corrado and Marcello Fratini - are in part among the most beautiful in the area and are by far the most elevated in the Bolgheri DOC. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Syrah thrive on the mostly clay soils with considerable gravel content.

Critics are convinced
The grapes, selected by hand, are processed with the utmost care in the magnificent and generously designed winery. Well over a thousand French oak barrels are used to age the grapes. The prestigious Bolgheri Superiore Argentiera, made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and a small percentage of Cabernet Franc, is often praised by the critics. This top growth was joined a few years ago by two impeccable single-vineyard wines - Giorgio Bartholomew (Merlot) and Ophelia Maria, made from Cabernet Sauvignon . The latest addition to the noble family of bottles is the single-varietal Cabernet Franc Lavinia Maria, which won over the critics' community right from the start.
