The Tenuta Torre Raone winery is located in Abruzzo on the eastern flank of Italy. The estate takes its name from the ruins of a tower that stands in the middle of the vineyards. This tower was built in the 11th century by Raone Poliziano, a descendant of the Duke of Normandy, as a bulwark against the Byzantines who had just been expelled from Italy. Tenuta Torre Raone is located on the sunny hills of Loreto Aprutino at 350 meters above sea level, on the borders of the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park, in the neighborhood of the lake of Penne.

in 1997 Luciano Di Tizio and Antonio D'Emilio took over the winery and began to gradually expand it, so that today 30 hectares of land are planted with vines and 3 hectares with olive groves. in 2006 they built their own winery.

The following grape varieties can be found on the estate today:

  • Montepulciano d'Abruzzo
  • Pecorino
  • Raone Rosso
  • Raone Bianco

The focus is on Montepulciano, which alone accounts for 17 hectares of the total area and benefits from the terroir of the estate. The wine is grown and processed according to the guidelines of organic viticulture, there is minimal intervention in the flora and fauna of the vineyard. The winery produces about 100,000 bottles annually.

Different vinification methods are used to suit the individual wines. In addition to the typical aging in stainless steel, some red wines are aged in barrique. White, red and rosé wines are produced.
