Vinicola Decordi del Borgo origin in Italy
Vinicola Decordi was founded in 1921 and has its origins in an old family tavern in Cremona (a city with a famous violin making tradition), where Qurico Decordi was the first to serve his own house wine with traditional Italian cuisine. It all started with own small barrels of red wine from Fortana, Ancelotta and Lambrusco for the guests of the house. The pure sale of wine turned into fascination and curiosity for wine production. In the following decades, the next generations of the family devoted themselves to this with great dedication. In the 1980s, the first exports to Europe and America began, which in the 1990s also reached Japan.
Today, the family exports wine to a variety of countries as far away as the Far East. Meanwhile, the Decordi brand has become a tasty promise of quality. The registration of Vinicola Decordi with the Chamber of Commerce of Cremona dates back to 1937 and in 1950 the first important production plant was built with a capacity of over 3 million litres, mainly sold in demijohns and 1.50 ml bottles.
Vinicola Decordi Today
Despite its modern and prestigious headquarters, the Decordi winery retains links with the places of its history. The old tavern where the grandfather bottled wine for the inhabitants of the village is still the place where Decordi likes to welcome and entertain its guests and customers. Here you will be spoiled of the typical dishes with the right wines, the atmosphere of real tradition and an authentic link with the territory and its flavours will be restored in no time, which is still the characteristic feature of the Decordi company.
Vinicola Decordi Fragolino
One of DECORDI's specialities is the Fragolino Rosso 'Valle Calda'. A Frizzante traditionally made from 100% Fragola grapes. This vine has an intense strawberry aroma, but is not permitted for winemaking as Vitis Labrusca. Furthermore, this vine was also said to have an intoxicating effect, another reason why the traditional Fragolino made from the Fragola grape no longer exists. Therefore, this Fragolino is made from a blend of different Vitis Vinifera grape varieties approved for winemaking and is complemented by fruity strawberry aromas and a pleasant effervescence.
Vinicola Decordi wines
Vinicola Decordi offers six different ranges, capable of covering every sector of the market, and this is why the Decordi lines are now well-known on international markets. The variety of grapes treated covers almost the entire Italian wine range, thanks to the Decordi family's ability to give enormous flexibility to production, so you are always able to create specific product lines for individual markets and distributors. Their most famous grapes are:
- Muscat
- Pinot Nior
- Malvasia
- Glera
- Lambrusco
- Riesling
