The family-run business Wein- und Sektgut Barth from Hattenheim, founded in 1948 by Johann, known as "Hans", Barth, is especially known for its Rieslings and vintner’s sparkling wines.

The Wein- und Sektgut Barth in the Rheingau

The vineyard sites in the beautiful little town of Hattenheim are of outstanding quality. The Rhine, which in the Rheingau flows directly from east to west for the only time, reaches its greatest width here. Right in the middle of the Rheingau, in Hattenheim, it is just under one kilometer wide at average water level. The width of the river and the predominantly south-facing slopes make it an excellent area for viticulture. The quality of the soils is also outstanding, particularly deep and varied. It is no wonder that a large part of the vineyard area in the central Rheingau has received the highest site classification.

Wein- und Sektgut Barth has become known not only for its dry and noble sweet Rieslings, but especially for its vintner’s sparkling wine Ultra, which various trade journals rank among the top class of sparkling wines. The continuation of the success of the Barth sparkling wines is ensured by the commitment of Johann Barth’s granddaughter; the trained oenologist works hand in hand with her husband in her father’s winery.

The clear focus is on the white grape variety Riesling.
