In the heart of the Lößnitz, nestled in the picturesque landscape of Saxony, lies a winery full of tradition and history: Hoflößnitz Winery. For over 600 years, Hoflößnitz has cultivated a passionate relationship with viticulture.

Hoflößnitz estate

The magic of Hoflößnitz Winery – where history meets indulgence

In 1401, Margrave Wilhelm I laid the foundation for the Wettin family’s vineyard holdings, which developed into a stronghold of fine wines. With an electoral wine press and magnificent pleasure houses, Hoflößnitz offered wine-filled celebrations for the high nobility over the centuries. This rich history is shaped by emotional experiences and deeply rooted knowledge.

A terroir that enchants

The magic of Hoflößnitz Winery arises not only from tradition, but also from the unique terroir on which the vines thrive. The Radebeuler Lößnitz offers ideal conditions with its single sites Johannisberg, Goldener Wagen and Radebeuler Steinrücken. Here, on weathered granite-syenite soils and sandy soils, the finest grape varieties ripen. Hoflößnitz cultivates an impressive diversity of varieties:

  • Riesling
  • Pinot Noir
  • Regent
  • Traminer
  • Johanniter
  • Pinot Gris

The careful cultivation of the vines in these sites yields incomparable wines that touch the heart and senses alike.

Organic cultivation – love of nature

The management of the winery follows the principles of controlled organic farming. The soil is fertilized with the greatest care exclusively with organic substances to ensure a natural supply of nutrients. Between the vine rows, legumes such as clover bloom, which not only enrich the soil but also attract beneficial insects. These plants create a rich biomass and contribute to humus formation.

Plant protection is also carried out naturally. The use of sulfur, copper salts and herbal extracts such as fennel oil forms a protective film on the leaves. This repels fungal spores and strengthens the vitality of the vines. The ecological approach reflects a deep understanding and love of nature and gives the wines of Hoflößnitz Winery their unmistakable character.

Venerable vineyards for noble wines

The noble wines of Hoflößnitz mature in prestigious vineyards:

  1. Hoflößnitz Vineyard (Schlossberg) – 2.2 ha: Riesling, Pinot Noir, Regent
  2. Grundhof Vineyard – 0.22 ha: Riesling
  3. Bennoschlösschen Vineyard – 1.3 ha: Traminer, Pinot Gris, Johanniter
  4. Friedensburg Vineyard – 0.63 ha: Pinot Noir
  5. Paulsberg Vineyard – 5.1 ha: Johanniter, Cabernet Blanc, Solaris
  6. Krapenberg Vineyard – 1.7 ha: Goldriesling, Kerner, Müller-Thurgau

In these vineyards, seductive wines are created that transform every moment into a sensuous experience. Let yourself be enchanted by the high-quality creations of Hoflößnitz Winery and experience wine at the highest level!

Things to know about Weingut Hoflößnitz
