The history of Manor House Welmoed dates back to the 17th century, as the worthy winery was signed over to the then Governor Simon van der Stel - the namesake of the prestigious Stellenbosch growing region - as early as 1690.

Since that time, some of South Africa's greatest wines have been released under the Welmoed label, creating the foundation for a thriving and renowned company. Today, head winemakers Bernard Claassen and Abraham de Villiers are in charge of the trade and ensure that Welmoed wines do not have to hide in the neighborhood of such great wineries as Meerlust and Spier and inspire with a very good price-pleasure ratio.
