The Zonnebloem Winery

With a history dating back to the 18th century, Zonnebloem is now one of the most respected names in the South African wine business. Zonnebloem wines are vinified with great care by Chief Winemaker Deon Boshoff. He is involved in all processes: from the selection of the grapes, to the gentle vinification, to the bottled wine. The use of new oak barrels for part of the wine, depending on the grape variety, is part of the process, as is waiting for the wine to mature as necessary before bottling.

Zonnebloem Winery - a prestigious name in South Africa

The Stellenbosch wine region is located only about 45 km northeast of Cape Town and got its name from its center, the university town of Stellenbosch. It is a very old wine growing region and has always been famous especially for its red wines. The different soils in the valleys and on the slopes allow the top wineries located here to produce a range of different wine styles, which they use to add complexity to their cuvées. The nearby ocean moderates the influence of the high temperatures.
