More information about 1er Cru Cras Beaune AOC - Joseph Drouhin
The 1er Cru Cras Beaune, matured in barrel and originating from the Burgundy wine-growing region, presents itself in the glass in a bright light red. With a slight tilt of the glass, the Burgundy goblet reveals a charming garnet-red hue at the rims. After the first swirl, this red wine displays perfect balance, as it neither clings to the sides of the glass in a watery way nor in a syrupy or liqueur-like manner. The nose of this red wine from Burgundy captivates with notes of blackberry and blackcurrant. Following the aromas further, vanilla and leather emerge.
Joseph Drouhin 1er Cru Cras Beaune delights with its elegantly dry flavor profile. It was bottled with 2.7 grams of residual sugar. As one would expect from a wine in the icon wine segment, this French wine enchants, despite all its dryness, with the finest balance. Aroma does not necessarily need sugar. This light red wine appears balanced and complex on the palate. The acidity of the 1er Cru Cras Beaune is wonderfully rounded, making this wine delightfully smooth. On the finish, this well-ageable red wine from the Burgundy wine-growing region impresses with good length. Once again, hints of blackcurrant and blackberry appear. In the aftertaste, mineral notes from the clay- and limestone-dominated soils join in.
Vinification of the 1er Cru Cras Beaune by Joseph Drouhin
The foundation for the well-balanced 1er Cru Cras Beaune from Burgundy is grapes from the Pinot Noir variety. In Burgundy, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on clay and limestone soils. The 1er Cru Cras Beaune is an Old World wine through and through, as this French wine exudes an exceptional European charm that clearly underscores the success of wines from the Old World. After being harvested by hand, the grapes are immediately brought to the press house. There they are selected and gently crushed. Fermentation then takes place in small wooden barrels at controlled temperatures. After fermentation is complete, the elegant 1er Cru Cras Beaune is aged for another 16 months in oak barriques.
