The Ghenos Primitivo di Manduria by Torrevento from the Italian wine-growing region of Puglia is a full-bodied, varietal and aromatic red wine.

In the glass, this wine glows a deep ruby red with garnet highlights. The nose delights in an intense, full bouquet that reveals lush aromas of juicy Amarena cherries, candied orange peel, floral notes of roses and spicy vegetal nuances of leather, coffee and vanilla. On the palate, this Italian red wine impresses with a wonderfully tightly woven tannin structure that beautifully complements the full-bodied body. The aromas of the nose are also reflected and harmonize very well with the acid-sweetness game. The finish awaits with a pleasant length and chocolaty nuances.

Vinification of Torrevento Ghenos

The grapes for this varietal Primitivo grow in Puglia - the DOC Primitivo di Manduria wine region. The vines grow on clayey soils.

The grapes are harvested in mid-September and immediately taken to the Torrevento winery. There, the grapes are first fermented in stainless steel tanks. This is followed by a maceration period. Once the fermentation process is complete, this red wine is aged for 10 months in stainless steel tanks - followed by 6 months in barrique barrels. Finally, this wine rounds off harmoniously in the bottle before leaving the winery.
