The best of three provinces

Bodegas LAN was founded in 1972 and is one of the best wineries in Rioja. It is the only winery from Spain that has been voted among the world's TOP 100 three years in a row. The company name stands for the initials of the three provinces that belong to the Rioja Denomination of Origin: Logroño, Álava and Navarre. The winery's pride and joy is called "Lanciano" - a rather spectacular single vineyard site in Rioja: a 72-hectare vineyard surrounded by an impressive loop of the Ebro River. Ancient vines of Tempranillo, Mazuelo and Graciano thrive on this top Rioja Alta site. The winery receives additional grapes from growers in the region whose vineyards meet the high standards of the cellar masters and who work according to the strict criteria of Bodegas LAN. 

A hybrid barrel pioneer 

The bodega's barrique cellar offers an impressive spectacle: up to 65,000 oak barrels can be stored in an area of 6,400 square meters using state-of-the-art technology. LAN is one of the pioneers in mixed barrels, i.e. the staves are made of American oak, the floors of French Allier oak, but Russian oak from the Caucasus is also used, for example.
