Bolla is the name of a family from the area around Verona that has made the production of top-quality Italian wines its vocation.

Winery Bolla - From small family business to top producer

The Bolla family is proud to have acquired their first wine cellar an impressive 125 years ago. The demand for their high-quality wines kept growing, and thus the family business developed into one of the most successful Italian wineries. Over no fewer than four generations, the legacy and the associated passion for wine have been passed on. Today the business is in the hands of the corporate group "Gruppo Italiano Vini", under the direction of winemaker Christian Scrinzi. He preserves the values and philosophy of the family and produces white, red, and sweet wines of the highest quality. Bolla was one of the first wineries to receive the certificate "UNI EN ISO 29002" from the prestigious Scandinavian company Det Norske Veritas.

Everything from smooth to sparkling – the Bolla wines

In the hilly wine region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, Bolla has several sites where a wide variety of grape varieties are cultivated. The relatively mild climate here is influenced on the one hand by the Mediterranean and on the other by alpine currents. In the north, the mountain range offers protection from excessively cold winds and thus favors the ideal ripening of the grapes. In the region you will find soils of limestone, clay, and silt that are mineral and particularly low in nutrients. They form the optimal conditions for the thriving of excellent grape varieties. The main varieties include

  • Cabernet Sauvignon
  • Corvina
  • Rondinella

but also the white varieties

  • Garganega and
  • Trebbiano.

In addition to world-famous, smooth red and white wines, the winery also produces sparkling Prosecco.

Bolla winemaker

Born in the white wine center

Bolla has grown from a small traditional business into one of the most renowned wineries in Italy. For this path they chose Italy’s white wine center: Friuli Venezia Giulia. Here, the white wines typical of the region are produced in various vintages, such as the 2012 Soave Superiore Tufaie and the Bolla Soave Classico 2016. But the flavorful red wines, such as the spicy and full-bodied 2012 Bardolino, can certainly keep up with the whites. The grapes are harvested by hand by numerous grape growers from the region. Special methods of vine cultivation and a sophisticated vinification technique crown the highly professional way of working at Bolla.
