The adventure of the Borge Salcetino winery begins in 1996, when Valneo and Tonino Livon, successful winemakers in Friuli, decide to break new ground and explore new areas.

Winery Borgo Salcetino – Tradition and innovation driven by passion

To this end they purchase a winery in Tuscany, right in the heart of the historic Chianti Classico area in the municipality of Radda in Chianti. The Azienda Agricola Borgo Salcetino extends over 30 ha in the hamlet of Lucarelli, 15 ha of which are planted with vineyards. They gradually modernize the vineyards; in addition to the indigenous traditional varieties

• Sangiovese and
• Canaiolo

Merlot is planted on a trial basis.

Hospitality at Borgo Salcetino

The buildings of Borgo Salcetino are subjected to intensive restoration work without losing their terroir-typical character and are repeatedly the setting for enjoyable evenings by the fireplace with a glass of wine, as well as a location for beautiful celebrations, fully in the tradition of Tuscan and Friulian hospitality.

In the wine cellar

The magnificent underground cellar of Borgo Salcetino offers the perfectly tempered location for the maturation in large oak casks of Chianti Classico and Chianti Classico Riserva, which are produced strictly according to the traditional DOCG regulations, and for the barriques for Rossole, the new wine that brings Sangiovese and Merlot together. In total, production reaches 95,000 bottles per year.
