Tenuta di CastelGiocondo - pioneer of Brunello di Montalcino

The winery, located near Montalcino, was one of the 4 pioneers who first pressed Brunello di Montalcino. Between 300 and 400 meters above sea level thrive especially the Sangiovese-Grapes in excellent quality. Above the Tenuta di Castelgiocondo is the castle that gives it its name, which used to protect the road from the sea to Sienna. The estate, acquired by Vittorio Frescobaldi, has belonged to Marchesi de' Frescobaldi since 1989.
