Tasting note/tasting of Campo ai Sassi
Campo ai Sassi Rosso di Montalcino DOC by Tenuta di CastelGiocondo sparkles in a rich ruby red. The complex nose is full of fruit notes of cherry, blackberry, plum and forest fruits, complemented by mineral notes, roasted notes of cocoa and coffee as well as nuances of tobacco. On the palate, this wonderful red wine, made from Sangiovese grapes from Tuscany, looks warm and soft. This wine is wonderfully harmonious with smooth tannins well integrated into the structure. A long, sustainable finish with a fine fruity finish completes this spicy Italian wine.
Vinification/production of Campo ai Sassi
Campo ai Sassi is made from the Sangiovese grape variety. The grapes grow in rather young vineyards, whose wines are bouquet-rich and elegant, but contain less tannin than, for example, the grapes used for the production of Brunello. After harvesting, the grapes may ferment in the mash for 16 days. Immediately after alcoholic fermentation, malolactic fermentation is followed. The Campo ai Sassi matures for a total of 12 months: partly in Slavic oak barrels of 80 and 100 litres capacity, partly in barrique barrels. This red wine spends the last 4 months in the bottle store. Here he can fully unfold his complexity and harmony.
