More information about Rosso di Montalcino DOC - Tenuta Il Poggione
The Rosso di Montalcino DOC from Tenuta Il Poggione is the younger brother of the great Brunello di Montalcino, more accessible, but also already with remarkable structure and personality. It appears a deep red in the glass and presents aromas of red berries on the nose. On the palate, this Tuscan red wine, full of character, shows its outstanding substance, complex, soft, persistent, with young yet already velvety and flattering tannins. Long, harmonious finish.
Vinification of the Rosso di Montalcino from Tenuta il Poggione
This Rosso di Montalcino is a very important wine for the winery. Great importance is attached to tradition and closeness to nature here and the estate is constantly striving to optimize its wines. The Sangiovese grapes for this red wine come from the estate's youngest vineyards. After manual harvesting and first and second fermentation in stainless steel tanks, this red wine matures for 12 months in large wooden barrels and in barriques, followed by a final maturation period in the bottle.
Ageing in wood is not mandatory according to the production specifications of Rosso di Montalcino, but it gives the wine its complex aromas and structure, which make it a great "young Brunello", and softens the typically young tannins of the Sangiovese.
Food pairing for the Rosso di Montalcino from Tenuta il Poggione
