More information about Giramonte Toscana IGT - Tenuta di Castiglioni
The Giramonte Toscana, aged in the barrel from the wine-growing region of Tuscany, reveals itself in the glass in dense purple-red, ruby red. When tilted slightly, the Bordeaux glass shows a charming garnet-red hue at the edges. Swirling the wine glass, this red wine displays high viscosity, evidenced by strong church windows at the glass rim. In the glass, this wine from Tenuta di Castiglioni offers aromas of blackberries, plums, mulberries, sour cherries, and prunes, complemented by cocoa beans, cinnamon, and gingerbread spices. The Tenuta di Castiglioni Giramonte Toscana presents itself to the wine connoisseur wonderfully dry. This red wine is never coarse or sparse, as one might expect from an Icon Wine segment. The finish of this mature red wine from the Tuscany wine region, specifically Toscana IGT, impresses with an extraordinary aftertaste. The finish is also accompanied by mineral notes from the soils dominated by clay and sand.
Vinification of the Tenuta di Castiglioni Giramonte Toscana
This powerful Italian red wine is made from Merlot and Sangiovese grapes. In Tuscany, the vines producing the grapes for this wine grow in soils of sand, limestone, clay, gravel, and marl. The Giramonte Toscana is also clearly influenced by climatic and stylistic factors of Toscana IGT. This Italian wine can, in the best sense of the word, be called a wine of the Old World, presenting itself as extraordinarily noble and complex. At optimal ripeness, the grapes for Giramonte Toscana are harvested exclusively by hand, without the aid of rough and less selective harvesters. After harvest, the grapes are quickly transported to the winery, where they are carefully selected and gently crushed. This is followed by fermentation in small wooden vessels at controlled temperatures. After fermentation, the Giramonte Toscana is matured for 22 months in oak barrels made from oak wood. The aging in the oak barrels is followed by extensive bottle aging, which makes this red wine even more complex.
Food pairing recommendations for the Giramonte Toscana from Tenuta di Castiglioni
