The winery Taittinger is located in Reims in the heart of Champagne.
Taittinger – regained and led to success
The winery has been family-owned since 1932 and emerged from the cellar Forest & Fourneaux, which had already existed since 1734. Chardonnay is the defining style of this house. Due to inconsistencies in matters of inheritance, the winery was sold in 2005 to an American joint-stock company. Just one year later it was bought back by Pierre-Emmanuel Taittinger. Today he runs the estate together with his daughter Vitalie and his son Clovis. A total of 288 hectares are cultivated. The Benedictine abbey of Saint-Nicaise, a house in the center of Reims that formerly belonged to the Counts of Champagne, and the Château de la Marquetterie are part of the family estate.

What you give to nature, it gives back to you
The long tradition of champagne production as well as new technologies make it possible to produce excellent Champagnes. For years the soil has been ploughed according to the principle of soil compatibility. From February to July, for example, the soil is ploughed several times without the use of harmful pesticides. The grass that grows between the rows helps to prevent the rapid evaporation of water. Some parcels of the Taittinger estate are ploughed exclusively by local craftsmen. They plough according to ancient tradition with ploughs pulled by Ardennes horses. After the harvest, the grapes are weighed, marked and then registered in the cellar. Depending on site and variety they are then pressed. The pressing process must be carried out only gently and slowly. Some parts of the cellar lie up to 18 meters underground, in the cellars of the Benedictine abbey of Saint Nicaise. Optimal conditions, therefore, for the production of top-class Champagnes.

The Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs from Taittinger
The Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs is a very special Champagne that can only be produced when very specific conditions are met. The harvest, for example, must be of exceptional quality. The year 2004 yielded an exceptionally good harvest and the Comtes de Champagne 2004 was created. The picking of the grapes began in mid-September and was one of the best harvests in the history of Champagne. The shimmering pale yellow color entices one to enjoy this Champagne and its long-lasting and intense mousse is fascinating.
And these are the grape varieties of Champagne Taittinger:
- Chardonnay
- Pinot Meunier
- Pinot Noir
