More information about Champagner Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru - André Roger

Made exclusively from Pinot Noir, this complex, lively Champagne Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru is vinified by André Roger.

In the glass, this sparkling wine shines in a bright straw yellow with golden highlights. The bouquet presents itself with a wonderful variety of aromas - clearly in the foreground are currants. This is joined by notes of white peach and candied lemons. The aromas of the nose are also reflected on the palate. On the palate, this Champagne is delightfully lively with a juicy, round body. The finish waits with a nice length and a hint of citrus.

Vinification of Champagne André Roger Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru

From the single vineyards Pierre Robert Haut, Tarclette and Varmery in the Grand Cru site Ay in the French growing region Champagne come the grapes for this wonderful sparkling wine. The harvest from the 45 year old vines is done exclusively by hand and the grapes are immediately taken to the winery. There, the grapes are gently pressed whole.

The must is then fermented in stainless steel tanks. For the second fermentation, with the addition of the tirage liqueur (yeast and sugar), the base wine is bottled and left to mature in the wine cellar of André Roger. Through regular riddling and turning, the yeast that was initially at the bottom gradually collects in the neck of the bottle. This sparkling wine remains on the lees for at least 36 months.

Finally, this champagne is disgorged. This involves freezing the yeast plug in the neck of the bottle and opening the bottle. The shortfall caused by opening is made up with a shipping dosage (sugar and wine).

Food recommendation for the André Roger Vieilles Vignes

This sparkling wine from France is a great food companion to light dishes with fish or even poultry. But also well chilled as a welcome aperitif, this champagne is recommended.
