Château Phélan Ségur - An Irishman in Bordelaise

Since modern times, Bordelaise has been closely linked to the British Isles. Large margins of the wine produced around Bordeuax were traditionally exported to the United Kingdom. Close trade contact led not only to business contacts, but also to relationships of other kinds. Bernard Phelan, an Irish wine broker left his homeland in the 18th century to settle in Saint-Estèphe with the daughter of a Bordeaux wine merchant. Between 1805 and 1810, he acquired the Clos de Garamay and Ségur de Cabanac sites to produce his own wine.

Rich in tannins from the basic tone, they are excellent for storage and present themselves with charming earth tones after a few years in the cellar.
