Domaines Ott – Iconic Wines from the Heart of Provence

Welcome to Domaines Ott – one of the most renowned wineries in France, which has stood for excellent rosé, white and red wines from Provence for over a century. Founded in 1896 by Marcel Ott, a visionary agronomist from Alsace, Domaines Ott is today a symbol of quality, elegance and respect for the terroir.

The History of Domaines Ott

After a long search for suitable soils, Marcel Ott fell in love with Provence and in 1912 bought the first estate – Château de Selle. Over the decades, Clos Mireille and Château Romassan were added. Today, Jean-François Ott and his team continue the tradition, combining craftsmanship with modern know-how. Since 2004, Domaines Ott has been part of the prestigious Louis Roederer house.

The Three Estates of Domaines Ott

1. Château de Selle – Côtes de Provence

The family’s first estate is located in Taradeau, on limestone and marl soils with plenty of sunshine. It stands for rosé wines with freshness, structure and longevity.

2. Clos Mireille – Côtes de Provence

This estate is located directly on the Mediterranean in La Londe-les-Maures. The vineyards thrive on poor schist and quartz soils. The microclimate produces elegant wines with maritime minerality.

3. Château Romassan – Bandol

Château Romassan lies in Le Castellet, in the heart of the Bandol appellation. Mourvèdre dominates here, resulting in powerful, profound wines with excellent ageing potential.

The Philosophy: Quality, Terroir and Sustainability

Domaines Ott pursues an uncompromising commitment to quality, from vine to bottle. Respectful treatment of nature and working in harmony with the cycles of the soil are deeply rooted in the house’s philosophy.

The Terroir – Provence as a Stage for Great Wines

The Domaines Ott are located in the best sites of Provence. The diversity of soils and microclimates creates wines with a distinctive character:

  • Château de Selle: Limestone, clay and gravelly subsoil – ideal for finesse and structure.
  • Clos Mireille: Schist and quartz, with a strong maritime influence.
  • Château Romassan: Clay, limestone and stones on terraced slopes – perfect for Mourvèdre.

The Grape Varieties at Domaines Ott

Typical southern French grape varieties are grown on the three estates:

  • Grenache
  • Cinsault
  • Mourvèdre
  • Syrah
  • Cabernet Sauvignon
  • Rolle (Vermentino)
  • Sémillon

Vinification and Maturation

The wines of Domaines Ott are vinified using traditional methods. Both temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks and large wooden casks are used – depending on the style of the wine and the grape variety. Particularly for the Bandol red wines, maturation in wood plays an important role in their complexity.

Style of the Wines

Domaines Ott is above all known for elegant, terroir-driven rosé wines with character. But the portfolio also includes white wines with freshness and minerality as well as complex red wines:

  • Rosé: Delicate, fresh, structured – with depth and finesse.
  • White: Fresh, floral, with mineral nuances.
  • Red: Powerful, structured, with great ageing potential.

  3. Château Romassan Rosé – Powerful, spicy and suitable for ageing.

In addition, there is the By. Ott range, offering young, fresh wines for uncomplicated enjoyment – vinified with the same care as the flagship wines.
