Geografico

Geografico is a cooperative winery with a long-standing tradition from Tuscany in Chianti. The story began in 1961 with seventeen dedicated winegrowers. Today, Geografico has around sixty members who work primarily in Chianti Classico, Chianti Colli Senesi and Vernaccia di San Gimignano. The core is Sangiovese, the region’s leading grape variety. Geografico combines tradition, craftsmanship and careful stewardship of the terroir to produce high-quality wines.

Geografico Origin Tuscany

The vineyards are located on the hills of Tuscany in Castellina, Gaiole, Radda and Castelnuovo Berardenga. Altitudes range between 280 and 600 metres. These sites are among the most renowned wine-growing areas in the region. Limestone soils, sunshine and elevation shape the ripeness, structure and freshness of the grapes. The climate supports slow ripening and the development of delicate aromas.

Geografico Regional Characteristics

The vineyards cover around 550 hectares. More than 400 hectares are registered as Denominazioni di Origine (DOCG). The main growing areas are Chianti Classico, Chianti Colli Senesi and Vernaccia di San Gimignano. The sites are characterised by calcareous soils, gentle slopes and good ventilation. The combination of altitude, sunshine and soil creates wines with clear structure, fresh acidity and intense fruit.

The main variety is Sangiovese, which shapes the typical Chianti character. Canaiolo and Colorino enhance the red blends with colour and spice. For white wine, Vernaccia serves as an indigenous speciality. Each variety is carefully tended, and hand harvesting ensures optimal ripeness.
