More information about Gevrey-Chambertin AOC - Joseph Drouhin
In the glass, the Gevrey-Chambertin from the pen of Joseph Drouhin offers a bright light red color. If you hold the glass at an angle, you can see a transition of the hue towards garnet red at the edges of this barrel-aged wine. If you give it some air in the glass by swirling it, you can perceive a first-class balance in this red wine, as it does not stand out on the glass walls in a watery, syrupy or liqueur-like way. The first nose of Gevrey-Chambertin flatters with nuances of blackcurrant, plum and blackberry. The fruity parts of the bouquet are joined by notes of barrel aging such as roasted almond, whole nut chocolate and walnut.
This dry red wine from Joseph Drouhin is ideal for wine lovers who like their wine dry. On the palate, the texture of this balanced red wine is wonderfully silky and fleshy. Finally, on the finish, this storable red wine from the Burgundy wine region delights with beautiful length. There are again hints of blackberry and plum. In the aftertaste, mineral notes of the soils dominated by gravel and clay join in.
Vinification of the Joseph Drouhin Gevrey-Chambertin
The basis for the balanced Gevrey-Chambertin from Burgundy are grapes from the Pinot Noir variety. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Burgundy. Here, the vines dig their roots deep into soils of clay, gravel and marl. After manual harvesting, the grapes are immediately taken to the press house. Here they are selected and carefully crushed. Then fermentation takes place in small wood at controlled temperatures. After the end of fermentation, the Gevrey-Chambertin is aged for another 14 months in oak barrels.
