Hacienda Grimon

The red soil of the Valle del Jubera, where Hacienda Grimón has been vinifying fruity and tannin-rich red wines since 1999, is full of power. Together with the dry climate of Rioja, bush vines aged 20 to 40 years with Graciano, Tempranillo and Garnacha thrive magnificently. Not least thanks to the dedication and finesse of the Oliván family, who with their own project in Lagunilla bottle Spanish zest for life by the case. 

Hacienda Grimón - the winery belongs to the family

Hacienda Grimón owns around 38 hectares, and the family under the direction of Francisco Oliván knows every single one of them. After all, the harvest is done by hand. Plant protection through pesticides has no place here; fertilization is done with sheep manure. Closeness to nature is of great importance to Hacienda Grimón, as it is nature that offers the estate optimal conditions. The philosophy and working methods aim at low-yield production, so that only about 5,500 kilos per hectare end up in the press. For the optimal yield from the vineyards in Lagunilla de Jubara and Santa Engracia, the grapes are once again selected after hand-harvesting and before destemming, and only then undergo malolactic fermentation on the lees in stainless steel tanks until the wine is ready to mature in oak barrels.

Crianza, Reserva, Tinto – the red wines from Hacienda Grimón impress with dark red to purple reflections that promise ripe, red fruits. Pleasant acidity, well-developed tannins and a magnificent body make these wines a powerful pleasure for fans of dry red wines. New projects of the Oliván family focus on Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, which round off the portfolio of this rustic family-run estate.
