More information about Koonunga Hill Shiraz - Penfolds

The powerful Koonunga Hill Shiraz from Penfolds shines into the glass with a dense purple color. This single-varietal Australian wine reveals wonderfully expressive notes of mulberry, morello cherry, black cherry and violet in the glass. These are joined by hints of cocoa bean, dark chocolate and black tea.

This Australian wine delights with its elegantly dry flavor. It was bottled with exceptionally little residual sugar. As you would expect from a wine in the high quality wine range, this Australian naturally enchants with the finest balance despite all dryness. Taste does not necessarily need sugar. This velvety and dense red wine presents itself on the palate full of pressure and complexity. The finale of this youthful red wine from the wine-growing region of South Australia finally convinces with extraordinary reverberation. The finish is also accompanied by mineral hints of the soils dominated by sand and brown earth.

Vinification of the Koonunga Hill Shiraz from Penfolds

The powerful Koonunga Hill Shiraz from Australia is a single-varietal wine, vinified from the Shiraz grape variety. In South Australia, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of clay, sand and brown earth. After the grape harvest, the grapes are immediately taken to the press house. Here they are selected and carefully broken up. Fermentation follows in small wood at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by aging for 6 months in oak barrels.
