Luccarelli wines are a line of the Italian Fantini Group Farnese, which distributes its wines from Puglia under this name.

Luccarelli and the renaissance of the wines of Southern Italy

The Fantini Group was founded in 1994 by three aspiring winemakers who wanted to capture the spirit of the Mediterranean. The "three dreamers", as they were also called, founded the group without having much money or vineyards up their sleeves. With skillful economic management and an innovative business model, the founders succeeded in expanding their company to the largest "botique winery" in southern Italy and to initiate a "renaissance" of southern Italian wines.

Meanwhile, the group employs 21 vintners with extensive international experience. Several awards in the past few years, among them repeatedly as "Best Italian Wine Producer" by Mundus Vini, have confirmed Fantini's success.

Typical Apulia - Wines from Luccarelli

Apulia is the "heel of the Italian boot". Even though it is only a small part of the country, Puglia offers a variety of landscapes that make winegrowing possible in many facets. Due to its location in the south of Italy, it is hot and dry here, but the sea provides cooling with its fresh air. The soil is mainly composed of:

  • Clay
  • Limestone
  • Sandstone

About 90000 hectares are planted with wine in Apulia, making the region the largest wine producer in Italy. The winegrowing is dominated by red varieties, which are also typical for the region, while the international stars are rather cultivated with white wines.

Here matures the wine of Lucarelli

A cross-section of the region

Undoubtedly the most famous wines of the heel are those from Salento, the peninsula that forms Italy's boot heel. Primitivo and Negroamaro are the most important varieties in the region. Accordingly, you will naturally find several varieties of this wine at Luccarelli. Other vinified grape varieties are, for example, Malvasia Nera or Merlot, which is blended with Primitivo.
