Rivetti Winery

The Massimo Rivetti winery, with its 25 hectares of vineyards managed entirely organically, presents a range of traditional and international vines. The winery is located in Neive, a small village situated between Alba and Asti. The annual production is about 100,000 bottles, mainly divided between Barbaresco and Barbera d'Alba.

The vineyards are grouped around three farmhouses: Froi, Garassino and Palazzina. In the first, in the municipality of Neive, there is the vineyard on the Serraboella hill, one of the most important for the production of Barbaresco. The much greater effort made in the vineyard through organic farming is also reflected in the wines.

Rivetti team

The following 6 points are at the forefront of Massimo Rivetti's work:

No herbicides - herbicide management

Manual mowing to avoid chemical herbicides. Sowing of over 20 different varieties of herbs that help the vine avoid stress and at the same time act as a natural fertilizer

No pesticides - insect management

Use of "sexual confusion" in the vineyard. Sounds terrible, but it's just a method that prevents an insect from reproducing using pheromones. The animals are not killed, only prevented from reproducing. In addition, nocturnes (worms that feed on buds in the spring and affect production) are collected from the plants by hand.

Old vines

Vineyards aged from 35 to 75 years with limited productions per hectare to maximize quality and enhance the characteristics of the terroir and the production area

Harvest by hand

Manual harvesting of only the best grapes at the time of maximum ripeness, followed by careful selection so as not to compromise later in the cellar. Natural fermentation using indigenous yeast cultures Native Pie de Cuve using yeasts naturally present on the grape skin to obtain original wines that reflect the territory

Filling with maximum gentleness

Minimal use of sulfur dioxide and clarification of the wine only when absolutely necessary. For red wines, it is generally bottled without filtration in order not to lose aromas of the fruit.

Rivetti Vineyard

  • Chardonnay
  • Pinot Nero
  • Cabernet Sauvignon
