Paul Achs

The Paul Achs Winery is located in Burgenland, which also includes Lake Neusiedl, one of the largest steppe lakes in Central Europe with a lake area of 320 km² and home to the largest contiguous area of reeds in Europe. The lake is surrounded by the Pannonian landscape, which has been characterized by viticulture for more than two thousand years. The continental Pannonian climate with its hot summers with low precipitation and the temperature balancing effect of the lake represent optimal conditions for viticulture.

On the northern shore of Lake Neusiedl, at the intersection of the Parndorfer Platte and Heideboden, lies the Burgenland village of Gols - wine center and home of Pannobile. It is located between Lake Neusiedl and the Hungarian border, about 60 km south of Vienna. Approximately 22 hectares are cultivated here, distributed among 42 different vineyards, each with a plot size ranging from 0.11 hectares to 2.30 hectares. The vineyards were planted on the Altenberg, Edelgrund, Gabarinza, Goldberg, Heideboden, Langer Acker, Schafleiten (Bless), Spiegel and Ungerberg sites.

Mainly red wines and dry white wines are produced, whereby the main focus for white wine is on Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc and the focus for red wine is on the local varieties Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch (10 ha cultivation area), St.Laurent and Pinot Noir. But also the international variety Syrah is vinified by winemaker Paul Achs. 

The cultivation is biodynamic and the harvest is done exclusively by hand, in order to harvest the grapes gently and to guarantee a high-quality selection.
