Rocca delle Macìe Winery

The Pietra Pura wines are a special line from the Rocca delle Macìe estate. Italo Zingarelli had long cherished the dream of producing wines. Until then, however, he first made a name for himself as a producer of films such as “We All Loved Each Other So Much” or the films “They Call Me Trinity” and “Trinity Is Still My Name” with Bud Spencer and Terence Hill. In 1973, the time had finally come and he acquired the estate “Le Macie”. Love and passion for the Tuscan land were passed on by Italo to his sons Sergio and Fabio and his daughter Sandra. In 1985, Sergio, Italo’s youngest son, personally took responsibility for the worldwide sales network and in 1989 he and his wife Daniela were appointed company presidents. With an area of 93 hectares, it offered ideal conditions for excellent wine with the Chianti appellation. Today, the company operates internationally and unites several brands and estates under its roof.

Today, the company operates internationally and unites several brands and estates under its roof. The estate now extends over more than 500 hectares (1250 acres), with more than 200 (500 acres) used as vineyards and 22 (54 acres) as olive groves, divided among the company’s six properties: Le Macìe, Sant ‘Alfonso, Fizzano and Le Tavolelle in the Chianti Classico area, in addition to the Campomaccione and Casa Maria wineries in the Morellino di Scansano area (Maremma).

Mandus – a wine of the highest class

One of the special wines in the range is Mandus – a Primitivo like no other. This wine has triggered a real Primitivo boom by combining high quality with an attractive price. It offers an incredible spectrum of aromas, which is anything but a given in this price range, and is a wonderful companion for a great many occasions.
