Balsamic notes such as mint and eucalyptus combine on the palate of Quinta das Setencostas Tinto with fruity nuances of wild berries and dark cherries. A hint of licorice can be perceived in the finish.

Vinification of the Quinta das Setencostas Alenquer DOC

Casa Santos Lima's namesake Quinta da Boavista is located amidst the hills of the Lisboa wine region, now Alenquer. The proximity to the Atlantic Ocean not only brings humidity and cooling wind to the vines here, but also harmonizes the temperatures in summer. The soil here consists of sandy clay, interspersed with sandstone and limestone deposits of the primordial sea that once had its bottom here. Here José Luis Oliveira da Silva, once a banker but for years a passionate winemaker, creates his Quinta das Setencostas - the wine of the seven hills. This classic of the winery is vinified from Castelão, Camarate, Tinta Miuda and Preto-Martinho. After maceration, the wine is aged for a few months in barriques and thus receives, in addition to the fruit, subtle oak nuances.
