More information about Sakurao Single Malt - Sakurao
Sakurao Single Malt is a complex and elegant whisky that reflects the craftsmanship and nature of southern Japan. On the nose, fruity aromas of grapes and oranges emerge. On the palate, vanilla and sour apple unfold, harmonizing with a fine oak spice. The finish is long and rich, with a subtle smoky note that adds depth to the whisky.
Production of Sakurao Single Malt by Sakurao
The whisky is produced in the small Sakurao Distillery in Hatsukaichi, directly overlooking the Seto Inland Sea and the sacred island of Miyajima. The spring water comes from the Oze River. Sakurao uses a custom-made Arnold Holstein hybrid still, whose downward-facing swan neck retains the heavy aromas in the distillate. After double distillation, the whisky matures for at least 3 years in the distillery's warehouses. The "Angel’s Share" amounts to about 5% per year due to the warm climate. Maturation in five different types of barrels – bourbon, Mizunara, wine, white oak, and sherry – contributes to the complexity and unique character of the whisky.
