Near Pisa, on a small hill in the municipality of Terriciola, lies the Tenuta Podernovo. Originally a farm, whose buildings from the end of the 18th century are still preserved, today only wine is grown here.

Tenuta Podernovo - Tuscan wines
Tenuta Podernovo belongs to the Tenute Lunelli group , which, in addition to Podernovo in Tuscany, owns an estate in Trentino and one in Umbria. A new winery has been built on the site, which fits seamlessly into the ensemble with the use of local stone.
Sand and gentle coastal winds at Tenuta Podernovo
The soils of Tenuta Podernovo are largely composed of sand and fossil deposits. Combined with the hot Tuscan climate, these are ideal conditions for great wines. The Etruscans had already recognized the potential of the region and cultivated wine here. The location near the sea gives the winery here the balancing winds from the sea, which somewhat mitigate heat peaks.

The portfolio of Tenuta Podernovo
In the tradition of a classic Tuscan winery, Tenuta Podernovo naturally cultivates Sangiovese. In addition, Cabernet Sauvignon, Franc and Merlot can be found, which in the course of the "Supertoscans" made their way into Italian viticulture at that time. In addition to a single-varietal Sangiovese wine called Solenida also produces two cuvées:
- Teuto: Cuvée of Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon
- Aliotto: Sangiovese, Cabernet, Merlot and a selection of local grape varieties
The newest child of Tenuta Podernovo is Auritea, a single varietal Cabernet Franc. All wines have in common the elegant tannic structure, as well as a balanced overall picture with a nice finish.
