Winery In den Zehn Morgen - old guard in a new guise
The winery in den Zehn Morgen is located in the historic town of Bad Kreuznach. The estate was created in 2013 when Steffen Montigny was offered the sites of the important Ökonomierat August E. Anheuser winery for purchase. with these, old vine stock was taken over and supplemented with the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grape varieties as new plantings, so that today they are able to produce great wines around the city. The estate is managed by Steffen James Montigny, while Stefan Schmidt is responsible for oenology.

The sites of the winery In den Zehn Morgen
Since the winery is still relatively young, it was immediately decided to use modern farming methods. The vineyards are cultivated in a natural way, and the ecological certification of the vineyards and the winery is progressing step by step. Seeding and good compost are used, and herbicides are not used. The following grape varieties are planted today in the vineyards of the winery In den Zehn Morgen:
- Pinot Noir
- Riesling
- Chardonnay
The winery can fall back on a total of 8 vineyards:
Hofgarten
This vineyard is located northwest of Bad Kreuznach and has stony, sandy loam soils. It is planted with Pinot Noir.
In the Kahlenberg
Located between Hodfarten and Bad Kreuznach, this vineyard is characterized by red and yellow sandstone, with a high marl content. Overlying it are river deposits from the Quaternary period. Riesling and Chardonnay ripen on this vineyard.
Kauzenberg
Located in the south of the city, here you can find sandstone soils with gravel deposits. Riesling thrives on this vineyard.
On the Kroetenpfuhl
Adjacent to Hofgarten and Kahlenberg in the northwest of the city. This vineyard offers gravel and loess soils to the Riesling growing on it.

Aufm Schlossberg
Located directly on the western edge of the city, this parcel is the best part of the Kauzenberg. It slopes steeply, with Kauzenberg soils of yellow and red sandstone with gravel overlay. Also an exclusive Riesling site.
Narrenkappe
Located north outside the city, the soils are weakly consolidated sandstone with loess overlay. Riesling and Chardonnay are planted here.
Pastorei
Located a short distance north of town near Bretzenheim, soils are clayey limestone marl. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir share this vineyard.
Steinberg (Monopol)
Neighboring the Narrenkappe, one finds here gravelly soils with loess admixture. The site is planted with Riesling.
The Kreuznach sites were once some of the most important vineyards in the world; in their heyday around 1900, wines from this region were more valuable than Burgundy and Bordeaux wines. In the spirit of this, the winery In den Zehn Morgen is trying to build on these great times and once again exploit the potential of the sites.
