The elegant Bretzenheimer Chardonnay from Weingut In den Zehn Morgen enters the glass with a radiant golden yellow. When swirling the wine in the glass, you can perceive an excellent balance in this white wine, as it neither appears watery nor syrupy or liqueur-like on the sides of the glass. On the nose, this white wine from Weingut In den Zehn Morgen reveals all kinds of grapefruit, ripe apple and pear. As if that weren’t already impressive, maturation in large wooden casks adds mineral notes and toasted wood.
The Weingut In den Zehn Morgen Bretzenheimer Chardonnay delights with its elegantly dry flavor profile. It was bottled with exceptionally little residual sugar. As you would expect from a wine in the premium single-vineyard segment, this German wine, despite its dryness, enchants with the finest balance. Flavor does not necessarily require a lot of sugar. This creamy white wine presents itself as balanced and complex on the palate. The finish of this youthful white wine from the Nahe winegrowing region, more precisely from Bretzenheim, finally thrills with a remarkable length. The aftertaste is also accompanied by mineral hints from the limestone- and clay-dominated soils.
Vinification of the Weingut In den Zehn Morgen Bretzenheimer Chardonnay
The basis for the well-balanced Bretzenheimer Chardonnay from Germany is grapes of the Chardonnay variety. In the Nahe, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of limestone and clay. The Bretzenheimer Chardonnay is quite clearly shaped by the climatic and stylistic factors of Bretzenheim. In the best sense of the word, this German wine can be described as an Old World wine that presents itself in an exceptionally impressive manner. When they are perfectly ripe, the grapes for the Bretzenheimer Chardonnay are harvested exclusively by hand, without the use of coarse, less selective machinery. After harvesting, the grapes are immediately taken to the press house, where they are selected and gently crushed. This is followed by fermentation in large wooden casks at controlled temperatures. After fermentation, the wine matures for several months on the fine lees before it is finally racked.
