The Nik Weis St. Urbans Hof winery is located in the German wine-growing region of Mosel in the municipality of Leiwen.

in 1947, the grandfather, Nicolaus Weis, made the decision to fully dedicate himself to the vines and the vineyard - The Nik Weis St. Urbans Hof winery was founded. The name St. Urbans Hof can be traced back to the patron saint of winegrowers, St. Urban.

A full 50 years later, in the third generation, Nik(olaus) Weis took over the Nik Weis St. Ur bans Hof winery from his father, Hermann Weis. His first act was to direct the winery towards the pursuit of the highest quality. For Nik Weis it is important to tickle out the origin reference of the wines and their individuality to the smallest detail.

Glimpses of wonder

Viticulture in the Mosel region still had a hard time and so Nik Weis earned many astonished looks why a young vintner exchanged the flat vineyards for steep slopes that were difficult to cultivate. There was also shaking of heads when traditional working methods were replaced in places with the latest methods at the Nik Weis St. Urbans Hof winery.

But Nik Weis, a trained winemaker, stuck to his vision: to make the diversity in detail and the uniqueness of the vineyards tangible in terms of taste.

Fine wines from the Moselle and Saar

The Nik Weis St. Urbans Hof winery owns 45 hectares of vineyards on theMoselle and Saar rivers. Among others, the following single vineyard sites belong to the winery:

Vineyards

The main focus of the Nik Weis St. Urbans Hof estate is on Riesling. Almost 100% of the vineyards are planted with this grape variety. Minimal areas are planted with Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc.

VdP Prädikat Winery

Since 2000, the Nik Weis St. Urbans Hof winery has been a member of the prestigious VDP (Verband Deutscher Prädikatsweingüter).
