More information about Wiltinger Alte Reben Riesling - Nik Weis St. Urbans-Hof

The Wiltinger Alte Reben Riesling Kabinett from Nik Weis St. Urbans-Hof is a seductive, characterful and varietally pure white wine from the German wine-growing region of Wiltingen on the Saar (site Wiltinger Schlangengraben).

In the glass, this wine shines a clear light gold with platinum gold highlights. The nose delights in an herbaceous bouquet that also reveals fruity aromas of sun-ripened citrus and ripe gooseberries. Thanks to the Devonian slate soil, mineral nuances still come to the fore. On the palate, this German white wine is very lively with a playful character. This wine also brings a multi-layered depth and firm structure, and is perfectly rounded off by an invigorating acidity and fine residual sweetness.

Vinification of the Nik Weis St. Urbans-Hof Wiltinger Alte Reben Riesling Kabinett

The single vineyard Wiltinger Schlangengraben is located on the Saar River. The soils are marked by hard, red Devonian slate. This vineyard was planted as early as 1905, making it one of the oldest of its kind. The vines have an age of up to 114 years.

The Riesling grapes are first fermented spontaneously in stainless steel tanks at the winery Nik Weis St. Urbans-Hof. This is followed by aging in stainless steel tanks. Wood storage is deliberately omitted so that the clear aromas and the characteristic minerality come out perfectly.
