In the glass, Niepoort's White Port reveals itself in a beautiful dark golden hue. This Port is vinified from Arinto, Códega, Gouveio, Rabigato, Viosinho and other white Portuguese grape varieties.
On the nose, this Port wine unfolds a fresh aroma of nuts and hints of dried fruit. On the palate, this Port caresses in an off-dry style and reflects the optimal interplay with the brandy, which lends this Port wine its outstanding structure.
Vinification of Niepoort White Port
The various grapes are harvested exclusively by hand. After the white grapes have spent a certain amount of time on the skins, they are gently pressed. This is done partly by the traditional method of foot treading. Brandy is then added and the White Port is aged for twelve months in large wooden vats. Before this Port wine is bottled, it matures for at least three further years in smaller, old oak barrels.
