Behind this name is none other than Charles Smith. The former manager of a rock band vinified his first wine in 1999, which appeared on the market two years later - the 1999 K-Syrah. This laid the foundation for Charles Smith's wines and his new home became the Walla Walla Valley.

Behind Wines of Substance was the original idea of creating wines from Cabernet Sauvignon with excellent value for money. The approach is simple: traditional winemaking - natural fermentation - barrel aging - unfiltered As well as unfined. And the reduced labels with the two letters CS suggest only one winemaker - Charles Smith and his Cabernet Sauvignon.
In addition to Cabernet Sauvignon, other Bordeaux grape varieties in this line include Merlot and Cabernet Franc.
