The double cask maturation provides the whiskey with a unique depth, showcasing both fruity and spicy notes in perfect balance. On the palate, a harmonious combination of fruity grape notes, fresh citrus zest, and elegant spice unfolds before the long, chocolatey finish concludes with a hint of spices.
Production of Writers' Tears Double Oak by Walsh Whiskey Distillery
Writer’s Tears Double Oak is the result of artisanal perfection. Made from 100% malted barley and triple distilled, it creates an exceptionally smooth and expressive whiskey. The maturation first occurs in former bourbon barrels made from American white oak, which impart a sweet, vanilla foundation. It then receives a finishing in French cognac casks from Allary Cooperage, known for their fine-grained, aromatic oak barrels. This development adds elegance and fruitiness along with additional depth to the whiskey. Cold filtration is deliberately avoided to preserve the natural aromas completely.
