From the outside, one might think they are looking at a manor house, but this is actually the place of work of Birgit Eichinger and her daughter Gloria, so more of a “women’s powerhouse,” where the two women set the tone.

Behind the wine stands the person who has created it together with nature: Birgit Eichinger’s philosophy is one shaped by great sensitivity, consistency, and intuition. At the same time, she is deeply rooted in her homeland, the Kamptal. She is the epitome of wines with strong character and supreme elegance. “Constant development, not stagnation; individuality instead of mainstream” is her credo. What Birgit Eichinger has written on her banner can also be found in the signature of the female winemakers and that of their birthplace, the Kamptal.

Growth and recultivation at the Birgit Eichinger Winery

Since its founding in 1992, the estate has grown to 16 hectares today – and that in the best sites of the Kamptal. This made it possible to reactivate the terraces on the Gaisberg. This ambitious project covers more than three hectares of top vineyard land. As early as 2012, Grüner Veltliner from their own selections was planted there. New to the portfolio of their renowned sites is the Ried Grub, which has also been planted with Grüner Veltliner since 2016. 

Birgit Eichinger is featured on every wine list

More than half of the total production is exported and helped Birgit Eichinger to obtain numerous international awards. In her home country Austria, the Eichinger wines are equally popular and can hardly be found missing from any wine list. As a member of the “Traditionsweingüter Österreich,” the classification of the Erste Lagen (premier crus) in the Danube region is of course also an important concern for this female winemaker duo. Because just because a vine grows somewhere, you cannot assume that the quality is the same. At the Eichinger estate, they feel committed to this quest. The Eichingers are also involved in the well-known association “11 Frauen und ihre Weine” (“11 Women and Their Wines”), where they have set out to strengthen the standing of female winemakers.
