Black Swan Sauvignon Blanc - Steenberg

In the glass, the Black Swan Sauvignon Blanc from the house of Steenberg shows a dense pale yellow color. If you give it some air in the glass by swirling, this white wine reveals a high viscosity, which shows in church windows at the edge of the glass. The nose of this white wine from the Western Cape captivates with hints of lemongrass, blueberry, guava and pomelo. If we trace the aromatics further, juniper, lovage and Mediterranean herbs come in.

This white from Steenberg is the right wine for all wine enthusiasts who like it dry. However, it is never dry or brittle, as you would expect from a wine. On the tongue, this powerful white wine is characterized by an incredibly light texture. Due to the moderate fruit acidity, the Black Swan Sauvignon Blanc flatters the palate with a velvety feel, without lacking freshness at the same time. The final of this white wine from the wine-growing region of the Western Cape finally convinces with considerable reverberation.

Vinification of the Black Swan Sauvignon Blanc from Steenberg

This white wine clearly focuses on one grape variety, namely Sauvignon Blanc. Only the best grapes were used for this wonderfully powerful varietal wine from Steenberg. The fact that the Sauvignon Blanc grapes thrive under the influence of a rather cool climate also has an influence on the development of the grapes. This manifests itself, among other things, in particularly long and uniform grapes and rather moderate alcohol content in the wine. After manual harvesting, the grapes are quickly taken to the press house. Here they are selected and carefully broken up. This is followed by fermentation in controlled temperatures. 

Food recommendation for the Steenberg Black Swan Sauvignon Blanc

Drink this white wine from South Africa ideally moderately chilled at 11 - 13°C as an accompaniment to lemon chili chicken with bulgur, rum stew or veal and onion casserole.
